I came into this work originally as a patient. I had been suffering with migraine headaches most of my life, but in 2005, they really got out of control. My headache became constant, oscillating between headache and migraine 24/7. After trying almost every possible treatment, for years on end, I was told, (by a doctor) “This is your life…get used to it”. I refused to believe that and started trying alternative therapies. I did chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapy weekly for years. Things were just getting worse. In 2011, I was referred to a CranioSacral Therapist. In less than 3 weeks, I was migraine free! I was blown away! I had to know more!
So, with that, I enrolled in an Integrated CranioSacral Therapy Program with Touch Education in Ocoee, Florida where I earned my Integrated Craniosacral Therapy Certification. After my first class in the Touch Education multi-class program in 2013, I enrolled the Massage Therapy Program at Sheridan College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where I earned my Massage Therapy Certifcation, passed my board exam and became licensed by the state of Florida. Shortly after I enrolled in a course in Connected Equine Techniques in Bradenton, Florida. Needing to feed my ever growing passion for this work, in 2015, I enrolled at the Upledger Institute for continuing education and earned my CranioSacral Techniques Ceritfication in July 2017. I have also taken the Equine and Small Animal CranioSacral courses with the Upledger Institute and received my Equine Massage Therapy Certification through the Animal Rehab Institute in Loxahatchee, Florida in April 2017. In February 2018, I was invited to work as an CranioSacral Practitioner at both the Upledger Institute Clinic in Palm Beach Gardens and Deep Roots Family Wellness in Cooper City. August 2020, I completed my Diplomate Certification with the Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Sadly, the Upledger Clinic closed it’s clinic doors in November 2024 but, Hurley Holistics CST and Deep Roots Family Wellness joined forces with Vital Health and Wellness to be able offer more complete care to it’s clients (medical and holistic).
In addition to my normal work schedule, I believe strongly in keeping up with continuing education and have taken and continue to take many extra courses in the Upledger curriculum to help enhance my palpation skills. Doing this helps make me a more integrated therapist so I can be better for my clients. I have continued my education with such additional courses as: the brain series, gIial series, cranial nerve, gut, chronic depletion, concussion, cranial base and dissection courses to name a few.
I also act often as a Teaching Assistant in multiple courses in the Upledger curriculum as well as offer my services as a primary and/or support therapist in many of the multi-hands intensive programs hosted throughout the year by both the Upledger Institute and Integrative Intentions including but, not limited to: the Group Intensive Therapy Progaram, Veterans PTSD Intensive Program and the Dolphin Assisted Craniosacral Therapy Program.
I strongly believe that coming to this work as a client first gives me a particular understanding and compassion that my clients resonate strongly with. I’ve been there and I’m proof that you can feel better!
